Government of India announced a tablet PC that is claimed to be the cheapest Android Tablet PC in the world. The tablet is named Aakash, which means sky in Hindi.
Cheap Android Tablet PC is made by Datawind, and priced at only 2500 rupees (U.S. $ 430 thousand). Tablets are proclaimed as supporting media education in India. Rumored that the tablet has sold 1.4 million
units since its launch on December 14.
Aakash Tablet PC using Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and a 7-inch resistive touch screen. Although processor speed is only 366 MHz, but Aakash has a dedicated GPU with 256 MB of RAM.
Aakash also provides storage of 2GB which can be expanded via the microSD slot and two USB ports. Tablet PC is powered by 2100 mAh battery that will Aakash can last 2 to 3 hours after fully recharged. To surf in the virtual world, Aakash rely WiFi.
